okay kiddies...here's some holiday stuff:
before the foundation was poured
boi-oi-oi-oinnnng! (yes, it's work safe)
i wonder if there's some kinda downloadable software upgrade i can do to improve the video capability. that'd be sweet!
man, i've been way lax on the updates. sorry kids, dad's been fuckin busy. the nice thing is that my downstairs neighbor moved out. he's a nice enough guy, but his kids are nuts, and very loud in the summer. they're constantly slamming doors, and i turn into grampa sully when that happens. it's funny in a way, i guess.
anyway, i got a knock on my door, and it's one of the maintenance guys; he told me that my neighbor moved out but flooded his apt and i should check my garage (it's joined to his) to see if i had water in there. yep. sure did. fuck. thank jeebus that the guitar stuff was way off of the floor. it's not like i had a foot of water in there or anything; just about a 1/2 inch, but it was a fuckin mess b/c it was water and alllll kindsa paint overspray. ewwwwww. so i busted out the shop vac and took care of it. glad i got that little thing!
i was off yesterday and so i had to do the rest of the clearing out of the mess. thankfully it went pretty easily and really nothing was damaged. that's good. this weekend is going to be one of paint, paint, and more paint! it's funny, now that the garage is all clean and shiny, i'm gonna go fuck it up with overspray! i tell ya, i'm really looking forward to finishing these three guitars, then i can pay other people to paint them. i must say that the thing i've learned most about painting is the value of having someone else do it. there's a great feeling when you send a check and a body off to someone to have it come back the way you wanted it. that's awesome. all of the joy, none of the fumes. i really gotta look into that.
went to the house again today, and it's been another day of progress. we got there as the roach coach showed up, so the timing was great b/c the workers were on their lunch break just as we showed up. so i got to walk around a little and take some pictures inside the house.
tj was tying his shoes and it seemed like such a great shot from where i was standing, so i had him hold still for a minute. i think it came out great. he hates it, but i think it's probably one of my favorite pictures of him. i wanted to do something special with it, so i came up with what you see now. i also made one of sarah, as you can see below.
this has been a great thing for my family, and things keep getting better.
was goin thru my iPhoto library just now and i came across this one from summer '03:
that picture makes me both very happy and very sad at the same time.
i really hope beyond words that you get the theoretical mess taken care of and get down here soon. i'm really proud of the mental steps that you've taken and i just hope that in the near future i'll get a phone call that informs me that i have to go to chicago to help you pack a truck. granted, some of it is for my own selfish reasons, but you know that things would be much better down here. and even though you may not have that in the forefront of your mind, once you get past the immediate fear of the semi unknown, i think you know it as well. anyway, i promise that this won't be yet another move to dallas motivational sales pitch. i will say that this is one of those times that i really wished that i could bend the world to my will a little bit better. i guess i'll have to work on that a bit more. until then, here's a picture of your room so far:
this is THE most amazingly done site i've ever seen. sadly, if you don't have OSX, you're gonna miss a lot of it. dude made a site that works just like OSX on both a iMac G5 or a powerbook. fucking. amazing. you have to have flash 8, so if you don't have it, get it. then try to pick up your jaw off of the floor.
why baseball IS a sport:
- agility: two words: diving catches. you gotta give props to the fielders who are diving parallel to the ground, body completely superman-style just to make a catch. when baseball season starts, you gotta catch the "web gems' section during ESPN's baseball tonight for all of the defense; great catches, great stops, great throws. here's a small sampling:

(ignore the bottom part, it's a composite and i didn't feel like cropping) anyway, dude's laid out, and of course, he caught it. requirements; agility, strength, speed, heart.
the whole premise of baseball hinges on agility: swing a skinny stick at a small ball coming at you at speeds of 85 - 100+ mph. if you have the hand-eye coordination and bat speed (which comes from strength), you'll hit it only a small percentage of the time.
as far as beer guts go, i'll give you that, but it's usually found on pitchers or first basemen. ever see a skinny offensive or defensive line in football? of course not. there's as many if not more beer guts and performance enhancing substances in football than baseball. that said, all pro sports has its share of substances, it's all about getting around the testing.
baseball may seem slow to many people, and i can understand that, but if you watch a good game, it's pretty damn exciting.
anyway, there ya go. oh, and poker on ESPN is lame. not only is poker not a sport, the ones they have on ESPN are PUSSIES. yep, that's right, they're pussies. what's with all the pussy like sunglasses? you can't play poker if you don't have a poker face! how am i the only person who sees this?!?!?!?! sunglasses. inside. what are you people, corey hart disciples?!?!?! "i wear my sunnnnnglasses at poker." douche gargling ass clowns, the lot of them.
and before i go for now....golf is for pussies, as is hunting. yep. fuck you right in the eye, mister nugent. i'm glad that you're here to protect us all from the deer, buffalo, and jeebus knows what else from killing us all. if it weren't for you, we'd all be mauled by now i'm sure. and who the fuck goes quail/dove hunting?! a fuckin dove? are you kidding me? do you go after mice and garter snakes too? PUSSIES! ugh, the whole thing is so brokeback mountain. just come out of the closet already. if you're gonna hunt, at least go after something that's an actual threat. like christians.
hey dood, here's somethin that may make your windows experience more tolerable....
on another topic, i'm trying out a new browser called camino. it's basically firefox but more mac-like, whatever the hell that means. so far, it's okay, it's actually a little XP lookin, with some of its coloring, but whatev. i'll see what m-Sit's opinion is and go from there. good times. m-Sit's a fuckin genius. wish he was stayin local, but if that's what'll make him and his fam happy, that's whatcha gotta do. it's weird and maybe some say a little sad, but 99% of my friends do not live near by. kind of a drag, but that goes to show you the power of that there intarweb, don't it? a-yup. it does.
i'd hate to be that guy.
